MnDOT to host public meeting Monday for Hwy 52 Pine Island to Oronoco project

(ABC 6 News) – The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is inviting the public to attend a meeting on Monday evening to help plan improvements to Highway 52 from near the Highway 60 interchange to south of Oronoco.

The meeting will be held in-person from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Pine Island American Legion at 108 1st Ave. SE. in Pine Island.

MnDOT is scheduled to resurface this area of Highway 52 in 2027.

Since early 2022, MnDOT has asked the community to share ideas on what else can be improved. A few improvements MnDOT is looking into are:

  • A frontage road along southbound Highway 52 south of County Road 11.
  • Flood mitigation near Middle Fork Zumbro River and the highway.
  • Safety improvements at intersections.

While MnDOT only has funding identified to resurface Highway 52, looking into other improvements now can help identify funding to do this work as part of this project or future projects.
