Former Vice President Pence to speak in Iowa Saturday

(ABC 6 News) – Former Vice President Mike Pence is scheduled to speak in Iowa on Saturday.

Pence will join a panel of U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan at The River Center located in downtown Des Moines at 10:00 a.m. The panel is expected to speak on America’s strength and leadership abroad and its importance to Americans here at home.

“Iowans understand the importance of engaging with partners around the globe to counter our adversaries and bolster trade relationships,” said Senator Ernst. “I’m excited to partner with the Bastion Institute to host Vice President Pence and Governor Hogan for a conversation on American foreign policy and national security and what these issues mean to folks right here in Iowa.”

The event is hosted by The Bastion Institute which was founded in 2022. The Institute recently hosted an event with Ambassador Nikki Haley and U.S. Senator Ernst this past Friday in Clive, Iowa.

Meanwhile, Pence was in Iowa last month where he spoke against a Cedar Rapids schools’ transgender policy.

Many expect Pence to announce a 2024 presidential run at some point. However, he has not formally made that announcement yet.
