Cub Foods fight leads to drug arrest

(ABC 6 News) – A Rochester man accused of displaying a gun in a parking lot fight was charged with 3rd-degree controlled substance crimes after law enforcement allegedly found M30 pills on his person.

Rochester police responded to the parking lot of Cub Foods at about 2:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, after receiving multiple calls about a man waving a gun at a woman.

Officers cut into a crowd gathered at the entrance of the grocery store, and asked 21-year-old Eugene Washington to get on the ground.

Washington complied and was taken into custody.

Rochester police later discovered that the item they took for a handgun was actually a replica that only fired blanks. They also found 27 M30 pills, likely containing fentanyl, on Washington.

Washington faces charges of threats of violence and 3rd-degree controlled substance crimes.

Officers learned that Washington and a friend had parked in the lot at the same time as a 33-year-old woman and 34-year-old man.

Washington and his friend objected to the older pair’s parking job, and the parties had a verbal fight, during which Washington allegedly pulled out the replica gun.

Reports indicated that the woman offered to fight Washington if he put the gun away, which he pretended to do.

Police arrived shortly after the pair reconvened.

There were no other arrests at the time, according to Rochester police.
