Austin’s Nexus-Gerard Family Healing receives $150K gift from Thielen Foundation

(ABC 6 News) – The Thielen Foundation announced it has pledged a $1 million gift to be shared by 8 Minnesota-based non-profit organizations.

Nexus-Gerard Family Healing, and outpatient community mental health services and residential treatment facility in Austin, has been named as one of the recipients and will receive $150,000.

“We are just so thrilled and appreciative. we told the kids this morning and it was just a huge eruption of cheers and excitement,” said Executive Director of Nexus-Gerard Karen Wolf.

Nexus-Gerard Family Healing is part of Nexus Family Healing, a national nonprofit network of mental health agencies with over 50 years of restoring hope for thousands of children, families through mental health services.

“I think it was last year that issued a report around children’s mental health and the dire need to provide services to these youth that who are struggling. and I think that after we got off COVID it’s even that much bigger of an issue,” said Wolf.

This is the second time in 10 months that the Thielen Foundation is making a significant donation to the children and people of Minnesota. In December 2021, they donated a gift of $375,000 to 11 separate organizations throughout the state of Minnesota.

“The partnership organizations that we are supporting with these gifts have established programs, networks and staff that perfectly align with Thielen Foundation’s mission and our donations allow us to positively impact the lives of many youth immediately,” said Amy Sinclair, Executive Director of Thielen Foundation. “’We will be working with each organization to utilize the funds in a specific immediate need area for those they serve. We are honored to stand alongside such competent organizations that are equally committed to helping local youth reach their full potential.”

The Thielen Foundation, the philanthropic organization of Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen and his wife Caitlin, aims to create programs that serve, educate and inspire individuals so they’re equipped and empowered to reach their full potential in life.
