(ABC 6 News) -- UPDATE: All Target registers are fully back online according to a statement sent out by the company around 6:00 p.m. Saturday.
In a statement, Target said that all registers are fully back online and guests are able to buy goods in all Target stores. The temporary outage earlier Saturday was the result of an internal technology issue that lasted two hours. Target says, after a thorough review, they can confirm that this was not a data breach or security-related issue and no guest information was compromised.
The company said that their technology team worked quickly to fix the problem and that they apologize for the incovenience and frustration this may have caused their customers.
KSTP's Kirsten Swanson confirms with customers and employees at Target that cash registers are not functioning throughout the United States.
This outage is causing extremely long lines and not allowing customers to check out. Some customers are reporting waiting up to 45 minutes.
In their Twitter account, Target News, the company sent out a message that they are aware of the problem, "We’re aware that guests are currently unable to make purchases at Target stores. Our teams are troubleshooting now and we apologize for the inconvenience. We will provide an update as soon as possible."
