(ABC 6 News)- Minnesota is counting down the days to the Super Bowl, and so are those who will be volunteering.

More than 30,000 people applied but only 10,000 were lucky enough to be picked as part of Crew 52.

Emily Whitcomb and Sue Moffit of Rochester are 2 of the lucky volunteers chosen; Moffit on one side is a diehard sports fan wanting to be closer to the action, while Whitcomb has a different motive.

"I am not a sports fan. I definitely respect athletes but it's not my thing, but I really wanted to be a part of the Super Bowl host committee volunteer crew because it's really about showcasing Minnesota as a state," said Whitcomb.

Volunteers will not be inside the stadium for the game, but they'll be the face of Minnesota around the downtown area.

"We want them to come back just because Minnesota is exciting and different and there are lots to see. It's not just the frozen North," said Moffit.

Job assignments for the group will come next week, along with their new uniforms.
