Structure fire in northeast Rochester extinguished

(ABC 6 News) – Rochester Fire Department responded to a structure fire in northeast Rochester on Sunday afternoon.

According to an RFD Facebook post, crews first on the scene discovered a deck on fire, with flames spreading from a recreational fire pit to the home.

Firefighters were able to put out the flames before they reached the home. Damage was limited to the deck and yard furniture.

The fire occurred while much of southeast and south-central Minnesota was under a Red Flag Warning due to extreme risk of fire.

RFD wants to remind everyone to use extreme caution when burning recreationally and to always follow local campfire ordinances.
