That wind will be a player as snow falls on Saturday. Increasing from the northeast, wind gusts could reach up to 35 mph. Bad enough in it's own, we'll likely see some impacts with snow/wind combined. In the depths of winter this would be an even larger problem as wind would easily lead to big impacts from blowing snow. Due to the warm scenario, the snow will have a large amount of 'stickiness' and won't be as susceptible to stirring around. Some will still happen, but it could be worse. Wind will lead to visibility issues as the heaviest snow does fly, however.
2-5 with isolated spots to 6" is expected over SE Minnesota and extreme NE Iowa. Lesser amounts over NC Iowa.
Temperatures will fall from the mid 40s at midnight and end up near freezing as we transition to snow by late morning.
