Stewartville renews law enforcement contract with Olmsted County

(ABC 6 News) – After several meetings, Stewartville has reached a new two-year agreement with the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office for patrolling the city.

The agreement will have five full-time officers patrolling Stewartville in 2022 with that number rising to six full-time officers in 2023.

The contract amounts for the city Patrol Contract are $575,242 for 2022 and $708,492 for 2023. The city COPS Contract is $112,288 for 2022 and $115,657 for 2023. This schedule reflects working out the compromise review of the City Council and Sheriff’s Department goals.

The decision passed with a 4 to 1 one vote, with Stewartville Mayor Jimmy-John King voting against the contract.
