According to Captain Scott Behrns, witnesses reported seeing a man chasing a woman down a hallway with a butter knife at the apartment complex.

Another witness told authorities they looked out of their apartment door to see the man beating up the woman.

Capt. Behrns said the suspect is 28-year-old Rogers Mochama of Stewartville. Capt. Behrns said the 20-year-old victim had multiple bruises on her face, a swollen cheek and a cut on her head. There was also a lot of blood in the area and Capt. Behrns said that's because Mochama had a deep cut to his hand. He was treated on scene. Capt. Behrns said it's unclear exactly how Mochama got the wound on his hand.

Mochama was put in custody on suspicion of domestic assault and 2nd-degree domestic assault with a weapon when Capt. Behrns said Mochama's wound re-opened. Mochama was taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Hospital.
