(ABC 6 News) - After 56 years of serving the community, Sterling Pharmacy in Albert Lea has made the decision to close its doors.
In a statement sent to ABC 6 News, Sterling Pharmacy President Sam Ewing wrote that the decision to close was not taken lightly and that there, "were many factors that led to our final decision [...] Our healthcare system is changing. Retail pharmacy is changing. Rural populations are changing. Customer needs and wants are changing. In a time where our store needed more traffic, we were seeing less. We are not alone -- this is a very trying time for all healthcare entities. Costs are high, reimbursement is low, providers are hard to come by... the list goes on."
