A potent winter storm is moving across the nation's midsection. It's close by, impacting some with snow accumulations as close as central Iowa. But drier air working over the area in the upper levels of the atmosphere will ensure that any snow stays away from southern Minnesota and northern Iowa. If we're lucky, northern Iowa will see one or two flurries.
Accumulations of around 6" are likely across southern Iowa. Totals up near a foot will be possible near the St. Louis, Missouri area.
Weekend travel will be slowed as a result of this winter storm to our south.
