(ABC 6 News)- The holidays can sometimes be tough for families living on a budget.
This is why the Salvation Army has set up a shop for joy event to help ease the stress.
For 2 days, over 1,700 families will walk through the Toy and Joy shop and pick two toys for the children on their list.
Emisha Berry, a mother of 2 have been shopping there for years.
"Just the joy on their faces when they open up presents on Christmas and knowing that I was able to make them smile and happy is really rewarding, said Berry"
Major Paulette Frye with the Rochester Salvation Army says the shop makes Christmas possible for many struggling families.
" A lot of them won’t have a Christmas if we don’t help them and so it’s very very important, I would hate to think that some child will wake up on Christmas morning without presents under the tree," said Frye.
Families get to choose from games, stuffed animals, clothes, and books but to moms like Berry just seeing their kids happy is all they can ask for.
" I cannot I mean my kids are my world so I love every single time that they smile and knowing that I did that is just great," said Berry.
