The district promptly canceled all classes on Thursday for the safety of all students and staff.

The press release says the former student was living in Rochester and was questioned by local authorities. She told investigators that she also sent the unknown person an acronym message stating “just kidding”.

The investigation has moved on to a criminal investigation and the FBI will continue to follow up on leads in the investigation.

Anyone with tips or leads can call the Howard County Sheriff’s Office at 563-547-3535.

The sheriff’s office believes there is no longer a threat to the Riceville School or community.
