Authorities Search for Suspect Following Hit-and-Run in Austin

(ABC 6 News) -- Authorities are searching for a woman in relation to a hit-and-run incident in Austin.

Just before noon on Friday, July 19, Austin Police said a vehicle struck a pedestrian at the intersection of 1st Street SE and 2nd Avenue.

Capt. Todd Clennon said the victim and suspect are known to each other. He said the 19-year-old victim was taken to Mayo Clinic in Austin with "significant visible injuries".

On Monday, an arrest warrant was issued for 20-year-old Tori Ward of Dodge Center. She’s wanted on Preemptive Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Attempted 2nd Degree Murder; with intent, and 2nd Degree Assault with a Dangerous Weapon Causing Bodily Harm.

Authorities believe she is still in Southeast Minnesota, adding she has ties to Austin, Dodge Center and Rochester. 

Police are searching for a gray 2008 Mazda 3 sedan with front end damage including a broken windshield, bearing Minnesota license plate “ACG 347”.
