(ABC 6 News) -- UPDATE: Winona County officials say the body of the missing boater from Winona has been recovered Saturday night. The 63-year-old man from Winona was fishing in the Prairie Island Spillway with another male boater when their boat capsized on Friday night. 

The Winona County dispatch and Winona County Emergency Management shared information saying that the victim was not wearing a life jacket when he fell into the water on Friday night. The other boater who survived the incident was not wearing a life-jacket either.

EARLIER REPORT:

The search for a missing boater continued Saturday at the Prairie Island Spillway.  

The Winona County Sheriff's Office said the Winona County Dispatch was notified of a boat in distress on Friday, July 12, around 7:24 p.m. When crews arrived at the scene, one occupant had been rescued by a passing boat and one was still missing.  The missing person is a 63-year-old man from Winona.

Crews searched until about 10:30 p.m. Friday night.  The search operations resumed around 6:00 a.m. Saturday. Searchers from the Winona County Sheriff's Office, Winona County Dive Rescue, Minnesota DNR, Federal Fish and Wildlife, Goodview Fire, Pickwick Fire, Wisconsin DNR, Bruce's Legacy, Minnesota-Wisconsin K9 Search and Rescue, and Winona County Emergency Management all worked together in the search for the missing boater.

As of Saturday morning, authorities said that the Prairie Island Boat Landing is closed and they are asking people to stay away from the area to allow searchers to work.
