(ABC 6 News) -- On Saturday, runners took to the roads to run a quarter mile track four times. At each lap, they stopped to drink a beer.
It's the 6th Annual Byron Beer Mile. Some people thought the idea was insane, so they participated in the Beer Mile zero point zero. They wore a bib, crossed the start line and then enjoyed a beer while cheering on those who ran the mile.
After the race, runner Tom O'Leary said the beer mile took a lot out of him, "It's super fun because if you think you're a good runner, the beer will humble you. If you think you're a good beer drinker, the run will humble you."
This year's Beer Mile proceeds will go to the Byron Lions as they work towards building an accessible park.
