(ABC 6 News) -- A 21-year-old said he was stabbed while walking near downtown Rochester Monday night.

According to Rochester Interim Police Chief John Sherwin, the victim said he was walking north of Civic Center Drive and 1st Ave. NW around 10:30 on June 11, when a man he recognized but didn't know the name of, called him over. The victim told officers the man slashed him in his bicep with what looked like an X-ACTO knife.

The victim said he ran to the 200 block of 1st Ave. SW where a friend convinced him to contact law enforcement.

The victim described the suspect as a black man, with a tightly shaven goatee and cornrows. He was wearing a rasta-colored sweater and black shorts. The victim also said he had a tattoo on his arm.

Captain Sherwin said the victim cooperated with police and told them he didn't know why the suspect stabbed him.
