Man Wanted for a Homicide in Fargo Arrested in Mower County

(ABC 6 News) - A man wanted for a firearms homicide in Fargo has been arrested in Mower County.

Steve Sandvik with the Mower County Sheriff’s office’s said investigators got word from the US Marshals Service that 44-year-old Miguel Jay Cooley, Sr., of Moorhead, might be at the home of distant relatives in Rose Creek.

Nearly 30 officers including US Marshals, sheriff’s deputies, Austin police and members of the Austin/Mower County SIRT team executed a search warrant at a home on the 200 block of Elm Street shortly before 5 p.m. Monday.

Sandvik said Cooley initially tried to exit the home, but went back inside and was taken into custody without further incident.

Sandvik said a number of other people were at the home at the time, but no one was injured.

Cooley is being held at the Mower County Jail on a 1st-Degree murder charge and is pending extradition to North Dakota.
