(ABC 6 News) -- Around 2 a.m. Thursday, April 12, Rochester Police got a call that an alarm had gone off at the Verizon Store at 2780 Marketplace Dr. NW. The alarm is connected to a camera system, so employees at the alarm company could see that there was a burglary in progress.
Rochester Police Captain John Sherwin said four people shattered the glass door of the store, went inside, and stole thousands of dollars in merchandise. Capt. Sherwin said the suspects were only inside the building for about twenty seconds. They were gone before police got there.
Capt. Sherwin said there are "professional burglars" that travel the country and just break into places like cell phone stores. However, he said it's not clear if this was that type of burglary.
Police are continuing to investigate, including reviewing several surveillance cameras in the store and surrounding area.
