(ABC 6 News) -- The Rochester Police Department got a call around 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5 from someone saying they saw two males going in and out of unlocked cars.
It happened around the 700 block of 36 St. SW in Rochester. According to Rochester Police Captain Casey Moilanen, officers responded and as they were investigating, they saw two people in a garage at a home on the 3700 block of Willow Heights Dr SW. Capt. Moilanen said the two ran when they saw police.
After a short foot chase, officers arrested two teenagers; 18-year-old Jonathon Joy and a 17-year-old male.
Capt. Moilanen said officers found several items on the teens including a 9mm handgun, women's sunglasses, a large knife, some loose change and alcohol.
Joy was taken to the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center and the 17-year-old was taken to the juvenile detention center.
They're both facing charges of theft, carrying a weapon without a permit, tampering with a motor vehicle, and fleeing on foot.
