(ABC 6 News) -- A Rochester police officer saw a vehicle driving on Highway 52 south of 19 St. just after 11 a.m. Thursday, August 16. According to Rochester Police Captain John Sherwin, the license plate on that vehicle didn't match up to the car it was registered to. The plate turned out to be stolen.

The officer pulled the car over and the three people inside were known to officers. When they pulled the car over, the officers said there was a lot of movement and it looked like the people were trying to hide things.

The driver, 43-year-old Andrew Johnson of Rochester, had a license that was canceled as inimical to public safety. Capt. Sherwin said driving with an IPS-canceled license is an arrestable offense. When the officers were arresting Johnson, they say they found a small amount of methamphetamine on him.

Officers suspected there may have been more drugs in the vehicle. A State Patrol K9 officer happened to be nearby and stopped. The dog indicated on the vehicle, and Capt. Sherwin said officers found an ounce of meth in the center console.

The two other people in the car, 34-year-old Melissa King and 26-year-old Joshua Crews, were also arrested. Crews told officers he was having a panic attack, so he was taken to the hospital. After he was cleared at the hospital, Capt. Sherwin said Crews tried to injure himself after he found out he was going to jail.

Johnson is facing charges of 1st-degree controlled substance sales, illegal use of a license, possession of stolen property, and driving after cancelation. Crews is facing a 1st-degree controlled substance sales charge. King is facing a 5th-degree controlled substance charge.
