Blaine Man Facing Theft Charges in Rochester

(ABC 6 News) -- Rochester police believe 34-year-old Jesse Jungwirth of Blaine broke into cars at the Rochester Athletic Club (RAC), stole wallets, and tried to use the credit cards at a Rochester gas station. 

According to Rochester Police Captain Casey Moilanen, officers were first called to the RAC around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 21 for reports of a man breaking into vehicles in the parking lot. The man had allegedly stole things like wallets, a checkbook and jewelry from an unlocked car and another that was locked but he had smashed in the window.

A witness got a description of the man as well as the license plate number of the car he left in. 

Later that night, police were called to the Sinclair Gas Station at 205 6 St. SW. The clerk said a man had tried to use multiple credit cards, but the wouldn't work. The clerk gave police the same suspect and vehicle description as the man involved in the RAC thefts. 

A little while later, an officer saw the man's vehicle parked at the Rochester Inn on south Broadway. The officer made contact with Jungwirth and a woman he was with. Capt. Moilanen said Jungwirth had the stolen property on him that had been stolen from the RAC. 

Jungwirth was arrested and is facing charges of; motor vehicle theft, financial transactions card fraud, possession of stolen property, 3rd-degree damage to property, tampering with a motor vehicle, and theft of property.
