(ABC 6 News) -- Just before 11 a.m. on Monday, July 9, Rochester police got a call from a 25-year-old Rochester man who said his $5,000 Italian Racing Bicycle was stolen.

The man rode his bike to Kwik Trip at 3 Ave and 12 St. to get some coffee and left his bike outside, unlocked. When he came out, he saw his bike had been stolen.

The next morning, the man contacted police again to say he found his bike posted for sale on Facebook for $1,500. The man contacted the seller via Facebook Messenger saying he was interested in the bike and wanted to meet for a test drive.

The two met up around 11 a.m. on July 10 in a parking lot on the 2000 block of 8 1/2 St. SE. Police were waiting nearby, and the man confirmed to them it was his bike.

Officers detained the man who was selling it. After reviewing surveillance video at the Kwik Trip where the bike was stolen from, officers discovered the man selling the bike was not the same person who stole it. However, Rochester Police Lieutenant Mike Sadauskis said the man was not being cooperative. He allegedly wouldn't say where he got the bike from and was arrested for possession of stolen property.

That man was identified as 19-year-old Brian Morgan of Rochester. He's also facing a charge for minor consumption of alcohol because of an open bottle police say they found.
