(ABC 6 News) -- A 34-year-old Rochester man said went to an apartment parking lot to drop off a friend when multiple men came up to his car and assaulted him.
It happened around 1 Friday morning, July 20 in the parking lot of the Gates of Rochester apartment complex on 41 St. NW.
According to Rochester Police Lieutenant Mike Sadauskis, the victim said he pulled into the h-section parking lot when noticed a red four-door Toyota pass by slowly and the five men inside were looking at him. The men allegedly parked behind him and one of the men came up to his window. The man allegedly asked the man if he was (victim's name) and the victim said yes. Then the suspect allegedly punched him in the face.
Then, two other men allegedly got into the passenger side of the vehicle and also punched him. They also grabbed his phone and $45 cash from the center console of the vehicle.
The victim said he first tried to drive away, but decided not to since two suspects were still in the vehicle. He then got out of the vehicle and tried to run.
He told police that he tripped, and the suspects began stomping on him. While they were stomping, the victim told police he heard one of the men say "should I shoot him?". Although, the victim never saw a weapon.
The victim then ran toward an apartment and yelled for help and the suspects took off. As they were leaving, the victim said one of them yelled "you'd better not call police or we'll kill you."
The victim flagged someone down who was coming out of an apartment and used their phone to call for help.
Police are still investigating.
