Rochester Police to Introduce New Officers to Community Organizations

May 14, 2019 09:27 AM

(ABC 6 News) -- Seven new Rochester Police officers will soon be building relationships with local organizations. Officer Andrew Thoma recently created the "Beyond the Badge" community partnership program. The goal is to give officers the opportunity to learn about organizations in the city that improve the lives of others.

New officers have always been encouraged to build relationships with these types of organizations, this program will just be a more formal way for them to do that.

The organizations they'll be working with include The Salvation Army, Cardinal of Minnesota, The Boys and Girls Club, Bear Creek Services, MN Adult and Teen Challenge, and Hiawatha Homes.
