(ABC 6 News) -- The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who is wanted on domestic assault charges.
According to Captain Scott Behrns, a call came in from a bank. The bank employee told law enforcement they were on a phone call with a woman and the bank employee could hear arguing in the background, including someone saying "you're not going to kill yourself."
Sheriff's deputies went to the home where the call was coming from on the 400 block of 73 St. NW in Cascade Township. When they got there, the two deputies who responded could see a man and woman in a car in the garage. A 70-year-old man was outside and put his hands up and stopped the deputies from going in. Because there were at least three people there and an unknown situation, the deputies didn't fight with the man to get inside.
The man and woman who were in the car then went into the house. As the deputies were talking to the 70-year-old, the other man apparently took off out a back door of the house. .
Authorities identified that man as 50-year-old Daniel Edward Tompkins. Capt. Behrns said Tompkins had a warrant for his arrest for a DANCO violation. DANCO stands for Domestic Abuse No Contact Order.
More deputies got to the scene, set up a perimeter and began a search for Tompkins that included using K9 officers. While they were searching, a deputy got a license plate number from a vehicle in the area that had a man and woman inside. It turned out the vehicle belonged to the woman who was originally in the car in the garage with Tompkins.
Capt. Behrns said deputies think the woman left the home during the search and picked up Tompkins. There is still a current DANCO order against Tompkins for that woman.
Tompkins is wanted on the original DANCO warrant as well as a new DANCO charge. Authorities believe the two may be in the Minneapolis area.
