(ABC 6 News) -- Rochester police said an 11-year-old girl was walking home from school when a dog ran after her, latched on to her arm and took her to the ground. 

Police got the call around 5:45 p.m. on Monday, December 3. The girl told police she was walking home from school around 5 p.m. in the area of the Gage East Apartments in northwest Rochester.

She said a medium-large sized brown/gray dog ran after her and latched onto her arm. The dog shook the girl and took her to the ground. Eventually, the dog ran off and the girl went home where her parents called 911. 

The girl's parents took her to the hospital and say she suffered a broken arm. 

Police are looking for the dog and the dog's owner in this case. If anyone has any information, they're asked to contact police.
