(ABC 6 News) - UPDATE: The Rochester Police Department has identified the two people involved in what appears to be a murder-suicide as 18-year-old Maxwell Artem Pearson and 61-year-old Gary Raymond Pearson.
RPD said the incident continues to be an active investigation.
According to Rochester Police, officers are still investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide Monday afternoon in northwest Rochester.
Rochester Police Captain Casey Moilanen said officers are still looking into evidence found at the scene and autopsies are expected to take place this afternoon to gather more insight into what happened.
Captain Moilanen said a gun was recovered from the scene.
Captain Moilanen said three people live at the single family home in northwest Rochester. According to a police report, a woman came home and found an 18-year-old shot and called the police. The report also said that when officers arrived on scene and searched the premises, they found a 61-year-old man shot in a different part of the property.
The investigation is ongoing.
Rochester Police are investigating tonight after two people were found dead inside a home in northwest Rochester this afternoon.
Capt. Casey Moilanen said officers discovered an 18-year-old male and a 61-year-old male, both dead of gunshot wounds. Both lived at the address, he said.
The investigation will continue throughout the night; preliminary evidence at the scene indicates there is no danger to the public.
Neighbors say a couple lived in the home on Eighth Avenue Northwest with their teenage son. They had lived there about three years.
A neighbor said she heard a woman scream about 4 p.m., then saw an ambulance arrive and leave without its lights on. A heavy police presence formed soon after.
They didn't know the people well, just enough to say "hello" at the mailbox, the neighbor said.
More information is expected to be released Tuesday morning.
