(ABC 6 News) -- Multiple agencies in Rochester participated in an active shooter simulation and emergency response exercise Thursday morning in partnership with Mayo Clinic.

Rochester police and fire departments were part of the drill that focuses on making the situation as realistic as possible.

It happened at the North Precinct on 41st Street Nothwest, using actors who were injured and needed transport to Mayo Clinic's Emergency Department.

It was the third large-scale exercise they've done.

"We're taking it from the initial incident all the way to further medical treatment of the patients, so it will actually culminate and involve St. Mary's Emergency Department as well, so we're taking this full scale exercise from start to finish," said Capt. Caleb Feine of the Rochester Fire Department.

It provided an opportunity for all the people involved to train, ensuring the highest level of preparation and response, should a real-life crisis happen.
