(ABC 6 News) - A huge donation from Rochester Motor Cars and the community is helping provide thousands of meals for people experiencing food insecurity.

Wednesday, Rochester Motor Cars presented the Channel One Food Bank with a check for more than $41,000. The money comes from community donations and was matched by Rochester Motor Cars. It equals more than 164-thousand meals for those in need. Channel One says the money is a huge help… especially around this time of year.

"Heating bills go up, kids are back in school," said Channel One's Linda Olson. "Then we have the breaks you know, with the Christmas break and there is an increase and need for food and they've absolutely stepped up to the plate to help provide for that."

The money was raised last month through the "Drive-to-End-Hunger" campaign.
