"Martin Luther King, Jr. championed the rights of all individuals.  Rochester likewise has a deep and sustained commitment to compassion, reflected in the depth and breadth of human service work accomplished here by so many," said action group member Dee Sabol, executive director of the Diversity Council.

The renaming will take place during a ceremony on January 21, 2019,  MLK Day.

Activities will begin with the annual MLK I have a Dream Breakfast at the Mayo Civic Center followed by a rally and march to East Park.  The dedication ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m.
