Burnt Out Tail Light Leads to Drug, Gun Arrest

(ABC 6 News) - An Albert Lea man was arrested during a traffic stop in Rochester on Monday night. 

Just after 11 p.m., an officer pulled over a vehicle for “suspicious activity” on the 1300 block of 8 ½ street SE. According to police, the driver looked like he was trying to elude law enforcement and a light was out on the back of his car.

The officer reportedly smelled marijuana when approaching the vehicle and a search was conducted. A loaded gun was found in a backpack in the backseat along with small amounts of marijuana. 

23-year-old Charlie Morris of Albert Lea was taken into custody and is now facing charges of carrying a pistol without a permit.
