Local Boy Selling "Butt Nuggets" by the Dozen for a Good Cause

(ABC 6 News) -- The Preston Veterans Home has drawn a lot of attention.

When 7-year-old Carter Keim heard they were looking for donations, he decided to use his egg business with a funny name to do some good.

"I was like, 'hey, Mom, we should donate for the veterans' because my friend Dave, he's really nice and he helped us with this,” Carter said.

Just this week, Dave helped Carter put a new roost in his chicken coop.

"He has become really, really close with our neighbor Dave (who's) a veteran,” said Tonya Keim, Carter’s mom.

Carter is the C.E.O, Chief Egg Officer, for Chester’s Butt Nuggets, a tongue-in-cheek name for what he sells – eggs.

When asked about his job, Carter said, “It’s sometimes a little stressful, but it’s awesome.”

His favorite part? Holding the chickens and watching them run around.

He knows his chickens well. They like music, so he puts out a xylophone for them to play with their beaks.

Carter usually sells a dozen eggs for $2, but if you donate to the veterans’ home, he’ll give you a carton for free.

Whenever he gets a donation, he posts a video on his Facebook page, crowing like a rooster.

He’ll bring all the donations to Preston on Aug. 24, the last day for money to be counted toward the project’s final budget.
