Several Local School Districts See Their Referendum Fail

November 07, 2018 05:56 PM

(ABC 6 News) -- Several school districts in our area had referendum questions on the ballot, and many of them failed to pass.

For the third time, Triton Public School district's operational levy referendum did not pass. The district was asking for more general education funding, as well as curriculum, technology and fine arts funding.

In Spring Valley... Kingsland Public School was asking for more money per student... but didn't get it. On its website, the district said not receiving that money could put it in statutory operating debt... which means the state could possibly step in and take away local control.

The Rushford-Peterson district also failed to pass a per-student funding increase, and a referendum to replace aging school buses in the Glenville-Emmons district was denied. The superintendent, however, says replacing them is still a top priority.
