(ABC 6 News) - Responding to racism or harassment isn't something that comes easy. That's why a local organization is helping to start the conversation.
The Rochester Diversity Council and Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services are hosting a series of training sessions called "Know Your Rights." The goal is to address racist speech, behavior, and harassment while exploring your legal rights.
Wednesday night, the focus was on knowing your rights in the workplace.
“I've been telling people that it's not just marginalized folks that should be here, but people who want to be allies to help out so you can say something and assist other folks in getting the right help because we are a very diverse town,” event organizer Heidi Wilkins said.
There will be another meeting next Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Eagles Club focused on rights in schools.
