(ABC 6 News) -- Next school year, students at Byron High School will have the opportunity to get a certified nursing assistant license.
The program is possible because of a partnership with Rochester Public Schools.
Students can take the semester-long class at the Career and Technical Education Center in Rochester.
Although the school district has career and technical education teachers in agriculture, business, food and consumer science, and IT, this will be the first course to provide certification.
"We have many strong ties to DMC and all the medical facilities that are right here in our back yard," said Steven Willman, principal of BHS. "A lot of our families are committed to medical professional and careers, all the way from helping staff and students to supporting people."
The program can accommodate 24 students each semester, giving preference to seniors and juniors.
