The 53-year-old female victim called dispatch, saying Terry S. Hart had assaulted her, and that her leg may be broken. When officers arrived, they found the victim on the floor, in "obvious pain," Moilanen said. The woman said she was unable to move her leg.

The victim told police she had agreed to give Hart a ride to work that morning and went outside to start the car. When she came back inside the house, she saw Hart carrying a box down the stairs. Moilanen said the woman suspected Hart was stealing from her; when she looked inside the box, she saw some of her collector coins.

The victim told police Hart  "went nuts" when she confronted him about it and allegedly shoved her head into the wall, then shoved her onto the floor.

The woman was taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys Campus, where she underwent surgery for a broken hip.

Hart had left the scene before officers arrived, but the woman was able to tell officers where he works.

Police found Hart near his workplace and arrested him on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic assault.
