(ABC 6 News) -- A Rochester man was arrested early this morning after police say he pointed a loaded rifle at a woman and two children.
The initial call for help came in shortly after 1 a.m., sending officers to the 1300 block of Gage Court NW.
When officers arrived, Jason Finstad, 36, was "burning stuff in the back yard," said Capt. John Sherwin of the Rochester Police Department.
A woman who lived at the home said she'd picked up Finstad from his job Thursday evening, "and could tell he'd been drinking," Sherwin said.
On the way home, Finstad demanded the woman stop at a liquor store, which she did.
He continued to drink at home, the report says, and the couple began to argue. Two children, ages 11 and 14, were upstairs.
Finstad eventually retrieved a rifle, pointed it at the woman, then "smashed in the kids' bedroom door" with the gun and ordered them downstairs "to talk," Sherwin said.
Once downstairs, Finstad walked away from the victims, who were able to leave in a car and call for help.
According to the police report, the 14-year-old told officers he'd heard the fight, "and had his own shotgun that he'd loaded, and was going to use it if he had to."
Finstad could face charges of second-degree assault and terroristic threats.
