Rochester Man Arrested for Third Time Within a Week

(ABC 6 News) - On Monday night, a Rochester man was arrested for the third time within a week

Rochester Police Lieutenant Frank Ohm said someone called to report a man slashing a tire with a knife around 10 p.m. on the 1300 block of 6th Street NW.

Officers said the man was holding a wire when they arrived, and then allegedly dropped it and began walking away when he saw officers.

Lieutenant Ohm said an officer recognized the man as 61-year-old, Rodolfo Maldonado, who had recently been released from jail. The officer got back into his squad car and followed Maldonado for a short time and then confronted him again. 

According to a police report, Maldonado starting walking towards the officer and allegedly refused to halt when the officer asked him a second time, while holding a taser. Lieutenant Ohm said, the officer tased Maldonado twice, after Maldonado pulled the wires off and attempted to get away.

Officers also found a pocket knife on Maldonado during his arrest. According to a police report, there was a pocket knife-sized hole in the tire that was allegedly slashed. 

He is now in custody and is facing possible charges of fourth-degree criminal damage to property, tampering with a vehicle and obstructing the legal process.
