July 19, 2017 11:23 PM

(ABC 6 News) -- A Rochester woman is working toward her dream of becoming a member of the U.S. Sled Hockey Paralympic team.

Hanna Hughes was a soccer player at Lourdes High School, until doctors found a tumor on her hip. She had to have her leg, hip, and half her pelvis removed.

Then, she found sled hockey, and has been in love with it ever since.

Hanna will fly out to New Jersey on Aug. 23 to try out for the U.S. National Women's Sled Hockey team, which will compete in the 20-22 Winter Paralympic Games in China.

Best of luck to Hanna!
