(ABC 6 News) - While many were out and about celebrating the year 2020, Destiny Krampitz and Austin Hulsing were welcoming their new baby girl.
Originally Due December 27, Hulsing says when their little bundle didn't come, he just had a feeling.
"Me and one of the nurses were joking around and she's like I'm going to say 1:17 in the morning and I said 1:20," said Austin Hulsing.
Even though he was just off by a minute, Hulsing's inkling was correct. Baby Rosalie Ann Hulsing was born January 1, at 1:19 a.m. The couple welcomed their first child together at Mayo Clinic's Methodist campus surrounded by family and friends and overwhelmed with emotions.
"I'm just happy," said Destiny Krampitz, as she held on to her little girl.
Dad said he had this feeling that their daughter was going to come right at midnight or a little after when Destiny had to be induced, but little Rosalie had other plans.
The couple admired their little one and laughed about how their little family came to be just a year ago.
"We met on Tinder last November, and uh found out we were pregnant in May. Got an apartment in August and we've been cooking since then," said Krampitz, happy and in love.
The new parents both said they were scared when they first found out about Rosalie, but Destiny said after telling her mom the fear seemed to settle.
In the few hours since their daughter's birth, both parents seem to be picking up on little signs of Rosalie's personality, and Krampitz says she's kind of like her.
"She's pretty quiet, she's such a relaxed baby. She's really chill. She only cries when she's mad," said Krampitz.
Rosalie was born 8 lbs 4 oz. and even though both parents said they were scared in the beginning, they are even more excited now that she is here.
"It's awesome, it's just amazing. I never thought I could love something so much in my life," said Krampitz.
"Perfect. I couldn't be happier," said Hulsing.
The couple said they didn't have a preference of what gender they wanted because boy or girl they had name options. They are just happy baby Rosalie is healthy and here.
Congratulations to Destiny and Austin!
