(ABC 6 News) The electric scooter pilot program with Lime has officially ended as of Friday in Rochester.

The pilot program launched on Aug.1 of this year and was anticipated to run through the end of November.

Officials say it is being ended early due to safety concerns brought on by ice and snow.

The city says most of the scooters were pulled from the streets before the snow fell, but some scooters may still be out.

If you do come across one, the city urges you to call the number listed on the scooter to report the location.

But will the scooters come back in the spring? That's still up in the air.

The city says it is compiling a survey to gauge feedback from the community and expect it to be ready in the next month.

That poll will be launched through

Feedback from the survey will help the city decide if electric scooters will become a permanent fixture in Rochester.

A spokesperson with Lime says during the pilot program with only 200 scooters, 50,641 rides were recorded with a total of 63,000 miles traveled.

Lime says the majority of the rides were used during the morning and afternoon hours when people would be going to and from work.
