Fire Prevention Month Open Houses

(ABC 6 News) - October is Fire Prevention Month, so this week local fire departments will be sharing their knowledge with people in our communities.

Monday, the Byron Fire Department is hosting an open house from 6-8 p.m. at 707 Frontage Road NW.  They'll have an interactive kitchen simulator, a meet and greet with Byron firefighters and othe activities for the whole family.


Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the Rochester Fire Department will hold open houses at each of its five stations.

You can meet the men and women who serve the city, check out the engines, and see other equipment they use. Firefighters will also talk about the different ways you can stay safe.

Doors will be open at the stations from 6 to 8 in the evenings starting Wednesday.

  • Station Four 1875 41st ST NW 
  • Station Five 325 28th ST SE 

The Austin Fire Station will be holding an open house from 5 to 7 Wednesday night. They will be hosting various family-friendly activities, from dressing like a firefighter, fire extinguisher operation, and even spraying the fire hose.
