(ABC 6 News)-- A man accused of robbing an Owatonna bank this afternoon was quickly recognized by a police officer, leading to an arrest about 90 minutes after the robbery.
Owatonna police responded at 2:11 p.m. to US Bank, 132 W. Broadway, where they learned a lone white man had entered the bank and handed the teller a note, demanding money. The note referred to a gun, but no weapon was seen, authorities said.
The suspect ran out after the teller handed over money.
Surveillance photos were distributed to law enforcement; an Owatonna officer positively identified the suspect as Matthew Dahl, 33, whose last known address was in Faribault.
According to a press release, officers found Dahl at the Steele County Fairgrounds Park about 3:50 p.m., and arrested him without incident. He's in custody, awaiting formal charges.
The OPD was assisted by the Steele County Sheriff's Office, Rice County Sheriff's Office, Faribault Police Department, and the FBI.
The incident remains under investigation.
