(ABC 6 News)--At a corner at one of Austin's busiest intersection, there are always people coming and going at the Freedom Value Center. But the two who came in around 11 p.m. Friday brought trouble.

“Officers responded to an armed robbery in progress," Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger said.

Police are looking for two suspects.

"Two African American males dressed in all black had their hoodies pulled up over their faces," Chief Brian Krueger explained.

One of the men entered the store with a handgun and approached a clerk.

"Told her to open the safe and the cash register, and the second male went behind where the cashier was, took the money out of the register and also some money out of the safe,” Krueger said.

The robbers left the store and fled northbound on foot.

"We did do a K9 search which lasted a little over a block but then lost the trail," Chief Brian Krueger said.

The clerk was alone in the store and was not hurt. She described both men as in their low 20s to low 30s, about six feet tall and average build.

There are no suspects in Friday night's robbery, and the case is still under investigation. If you have any information that might help you're asked to contact the Austin police department
