(ABC 6 News) -- Tuesday, the public had a chance to share their thoughts on two possible sites for a new fire station in Albert Lea.
The sites being considered are along Newton Street, across from the law enforcement center, and at the Blazing Star Landing site.
Tuesday, the project's architects outlined the cost of building at both sites, which has risen to more than $9 million for either site.
Several community members shared their thoughts on which site would be better suited for the department now and into the future.
Albert Lea resident Doug Weigel said, "My opinion of that Newton site is one we don't own it and two it looks like we're packaging a nutshell into a corner."
City Council Ward 4 Candidate Gary Hagen said, "I understood that the floor of the base will only be about one foot above the floodplain. And what we've been experiencing lately here in the town (is) so much water. Is that going to be an issue?"
The Albert Lea City Council will take up the issue, again, at their meeting Monday night.
