(ABC 6 News) -- In Rochester, members of the Muslim community are calling on local, state, and federal law enforcement authorities to investigate a possible hate crime.

The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN) sent out a statement on Saturday saying that an attempted religious desecration took place at the Abubakar Islamic Center in downtown Rochester.

They said officials found at least 6 pieces of bacon, some by the front door and some in the parking lot of the mosque.

Muslims don't eat pork and pork products as part of their beliefs.

The statement also mentioned that this incident has been reported to the police.

On Sunday, several locals are organizing a Sunrise Solidarity Vigil at 6:30 a.m. outside of the mosque.
