(ABC 6 News) -- Police say an officer was punched in the face while dealing with an intoxicated person.

Rochester Police Department told ABC 6 News that officers were dispatched to a report of an intoxicated person at around 10:55 pm Friday night. The man was on a bridge on 6th Street Southeast and 9th Avenue Southeast.  They said the person, police identified as Derek Richey, was brought to the hospital because of the severity of his intoxication. At the hospital, the person became aggressive and punched an officer "in the face with a closed fist." The officer incurred an injury as a result. The suspect, on the other hand, was arrested and now faces pending felony charges of 4th-degree assault on a police officer.
