(ABC 6 News) -- An 18-year-old male has been arrested after police say he allegedly fired shots at several people inside a car.

The Mason City Police Department says they dispatched officers to the area of 8th and South Kentucky after they received a call of shots being fired at a car around 11:27 a.m. Saturday morning.  Police said when officers arrived at the scene witnesses directed officers to the suspect shooting a gun towards a car with three people in it.

The shooting suspect, 18-year-old Manuel Zamorano alleged fired four shots at the car and possibly a person nearby.  Police said that Zamorano allegedly resisted arrest but was taken into custody. 

Nobody was hit by the bullets. The car was not hit by bullets either.

Police say a 9mm handgun they believe to have been used in the shooting was found in a nearby flower bed.

Zamorano is now charged with Terrorism (Class B Felony), Assault on a Police Officer Aggravated, Misdemeanor Assault on a Police Officer, Interference with Official Acts, and Possession of Marijuana.

In a statement, the Mason City Police Department is crediting the public's assistance in reporting the incident and locating the suspect.
